For starters, Bermuda is located in the Atlantic Ocean. About 650 miles due east of North Carolina, USA lies Bermuda. From the entire east coast of America, New York City to Miami, Bermuda is less than a two hour flight.
Bermuda is frequently considered to be part of the Caribbean, this is incorrect.
You go to heaven if you want to, I’d rather stay right here in Bermuda.

Where is Bermuda Located?

That being said, for those who are unfamiliar it does provide a great visual to understand how close the island is to the United states.
The archipelago of Bermuda is quite interesting. The island is not one island, but instead the main island is seven islands connected by bridges. And then, there are 174 other islands. With the seven islands connected by bridges, Bermuda is 21 square miles.
Fun fact: Somerset bridge is the smallest drawbridge in the world.
Why are there so many return visitors to Bermy?
Always a great question. While there is not a one size fits all answer. As a person who has returned year after year for almost a decade, I can say Bermuda is a place like no other.
The people. The community. The social life.
With friends that turn to family, the entire island is laced with endless views that make you feel as if you are living life in a painting. The island is speckled with calm and peaceful pastel colored houses. Every building covered with a white rood that provides the perfect contrast to nature. Lastly, those Atlantic blues. Together is brings a sense of calm that is tough to put into words.
What language is spoken in Bermuda?
Proper English. Prepare your ears for the British accent.
What is the currency in Bermuda?
The currency is the Bermudan Dollar and the exchange rate is 1 BMD to 1 USD.
Can you use US dollars? Sure, at times, however it is not recommended. If you are not aware, when a person uses a currency other than the countries official currency, the person accepting a foreign currency will have to stand in line at the bank for hours. Yes, hours. To convert and deposit, often they end up losing money. Find an ATM and pay in local currency.
How long should you visit Bermuda?
At a minimum, I recommend 7 days to explore the island from east to west. Despite its small size, the island is loaded with activities for all to enjoy.
Including a extensive amount of free places to explore. You can enjoy 34 public beaches, 90 forts, and 18 miles of old railway tracks that that now serve as walking and running trails.
Tip: If you visit Bermuda during the summer months, each Wednesday on Front Street you can join Harbour Nights. It is a great way to enjoy some local food and explore beautiful arts and crafts.
Is Bermuda Safe?
Yes, I would go as far to say it is exceptionally safe. Just like any location with high rates of tourism there are occurrences of petty theft. The most common are popping the seats of scooters and unattended bags.
Follow international rules: never leave your valuables out in the open or unattended.
My first solo international trip was to Bermuda. Each year, I return for a few months to see friends, many who are now family.
