Flying to French Polynesia

flying to French Polynesia by Hi from Ashley

Planning a trip to French Polynesia? As of January 2023 Delta and Air France have added new routes from LA to Bora Bora (BOB) Moorea (MOZ) and Raiatea (RFP).

Honeymoons and dream vacations just got easier!

Flights will depart from LAX and fly directly to Tahiti (PPT). You will have a layover and then fly to your final destination. I know this sounds the same as it has always been, but it is far from it.

Previously, you would book a round trip flight with airlines such as United, French Bee, etc and then book another roundtrip inter-island flight from Tahiti to Bora Bora with Air Tahiti.

Now, when you book your roundtrip tickets to Bora Bora with Delta or Air France all of your flights will be on one itinerary. This has never been done before and will eliminate much stress.

Delta vs Air france

Before writing this, I looked at endless flights for all of 2023 for Delta and Air France. When it comes to quality, both airlines are excellent options.

On this day, January 28th 2023 I was only able to look up Bora Bora with Delta, it seems they have yet to add MOZ and RFP to their database.

For Bora Bora, Delta has substantially shorter layovers in Tahiti.

For Moorea and Raiatea Air France has the best flight options.

Friendly reminders: The best time to visit is the months of June through October. The weather is cooler, drier, and it is Humpback Whale season. Read The Ultimate Travel Guide to Moorea to know all the details on swimming with whales.

Tahiti airport offers complimentary WiFi and ATMs near McDonalds.

When I left corporate health care to travel full time, French Polynesia was my first destination.

The Tahitian way of life restored my faith in humanity. Most importantly, it reset my heart and soul back to what really matters in life.

Every year, I return for a few months to explore new islands and see friends. In total, I have spent one year living on the islands.

With each trip back to Polynesia, I will continue to update and share more information here for you.

Enjoy your trip!
