Whether you’re craving fresh seafood, international fare, or traditional Bermudian food, the restaurants in Bermuda cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences. From upscale dining experiences to casual eateries, there’s something for every palate on this beautiful island.
It’s always a great idea to check menus online. Most restaurants in Bermuda have online menus, I have included many in this post.
Classic Bermuda Dishes
This post would be unworthy of sharing without telling you about all the foods Bermuda is most known for. Number one being a fish sandwich on raisin bread, Bermuda Fish Chowder, Spiny Lobster, and codfish and potatoes.
Restaurants in Bermuda
Village Pantry: in Flatts Village, Village Pantry is not only one of my favorite brunch spots, it is also known for its vegetarian and vegan options.
On the menu: Breakfast: Blueberry waffles, Green Benny, and Super Nova Breakfast. Lunch and Dinner: Quinoa & Lentil Burger, Creamy Vegan Sausage Spaghetti and more. Almost every dish on the menu, you can ask without meat and enjoy a delicious meal.
Personal favorites: almost all of the breakfast / brunch Menu. The balsamic brussel sprouts are to die for, Casablanca pizza. For drinks, excellent coffee, juices, and smoothies. Drinks with alcohol seem endless, from beer to the wine menu (sampler option), to all the mixed drinks.
Nonna’s Kitchen: Just like the name feels and sounds, Nonna’s offers up homemade cooking and is one of my favorite restaurants in Bermuda. Each day you can enjoy a special of the day, along with soups and pie made fresh daily.
Huckleberry: Each menu offers up vegetarian and vegan options. Also great to know, many of the fruits and vegetables come from their own gardens and Bermuda honey from their hives.
The White Horse Tavern: A traditional pub with a modern twist and great food. Located right on the water in St. George’s they cater to vegetarians with quite a few meat-free dishes on the menu. From delicious salads to vegetarian curry, tacos, burger and more. Great brunch spot.
Italian
Sul Verde is located in Tucker’s Town and in my opinion, the best pizza on island.! The Calabrese with basil pesto will have you coming back again and again.
Little Venice is on Bermudiana road, right in Hamilton. A dish not to be missed: cheese and pepper pasta with homemade Tagliolini, flambéed. If that isn’t enough it is served table side in a large parmesan cheese wheel.
La Trattoria is located in the heart of Hamilton and one of my favorite go to Italian spots with friends. The pizza, wine, and fresh ingredients will have you coming back for more.
Portofino Restaurant another excellent option on Bermudiana road. Great place to have wine after work and stay for dinner.
Favorites
Ascots Restaurant is a brilliant restaurant with a mouth watering wine list, and even better food. Reservations and dress code are required.
Beluga Bar is what sushi dreams are made of. It is a challenge to not order the entire menu.
Henry VIII on a Saturday night is a must! Go for dinner and stay for the dancing!
Cafe Ole located on the property of Crystal and Fantasy Caves, arguably has one of the best fish sandwiches on island.
Swizzle Inn iconic. Pub vibes and with the slogan, ‘swizzle in and swagger out’ visitors are sure to have a great time. Bring a sicker, business cars, or sharpie to leave your mark.
Best Ice Cream in Bermuda
With over 30 flavors, you are sure to find a delicious treat at Bailey’s Ice Cream. It is located across the street from the iconic Swizzle Inn.
Dining Etiquette
Smart casual attire is often preferred. Avoid wearing beachwear or overly casual clothing.
Recommend making a reservation, especially for higher end restaurants. Which Bermuda has many of.
Pace yourself, in Bermuda, dining is a relaxed and sociable affair. Take your time to enjoy your meal and engage in conversation with dining companions.
Despite restaurants in Bermuda offering fewer exclusively vegan and vegetarian restaurants compared to larger cities around the world, there are many establishments that offer plant-based options and / or are willing to accommodate.
Tipping Culture in Bermuda
If you have never been to Bermuda before you should know that tips (gratuity or more commonly called grats) are included on the bill. It is usually 15-17% and it is not optional. Very few places do not do this.
