Cartagena offers many options for beach clubs, which can make it difficult to decide when you have limited time. This post will cover all the pros and cons of ANAHO beach club in Cartagena.
the beach club
The best part of this beach club is the location and the privacy. As you can see, there is an amazing view of Cartagena’s skyline. ANAHO is one of the few clubs that is completely private.
Meaning there are no vendors walking on the beach trying to sell you anything and everything.
There are actually three main areas. First there is a small beach with about 8-10 beach chairs. Then you have the pool area that can accommodate about 45 people in beach loungers.
As well as day beds to sit even more guests who wish to have additional privacy.
Lastly, upstairs you have the VIP area. It might be hard to see in the photos, but right in the middle, there are hot tubs. The one on the right is full and the one on the left is currently empty.
the drinks
With the VIP day pass you will be greeted with a welcome drink. Refreshing and delicious.
Margaritas 100/10
The wine on the other hand … would not recommend. They only had Sauvignon Blanc which was warm. Despite being in a bucket of ice (outside) for hours it never actually chilled the wine.
the food
With the VIP day pass it includes lunch served with fresh juice.
The options will vary from day to day but mainly fish or chicken. On this day, I opted for the fish, 10/10 everything was cooked to perfection.
My friend went with the chicken option which was also cooked perfectly.
service
100/10 from start to finish our server was friendly, fast, helpful and very attentive. Granted we were the only 2 customers the entire day that booked a day pass.
Around 4 pm a group showed up as part of their 5 island boat tour. Great location to end a tour.
booking your VIP day pass
This was the biggest problem. My friend booked her ticket online, without issue. One hour later the website stopped processing payments. Email? No answer. Social media? No answer. Whatsapp? The owner responded at 11 am the next day. It then took 5 hours of messaging and calling to get a link to purchase. Overall very frustrating.
If my friend did not already have her ticket we would have went somewhere else. I don’t want to harp on the experience but almost 24 hours of trying to simply purchase a ticket is ridiculous.
round trip transport
ANAHO has their own private boat for transfers, which is great.
The downside is the communication and organization. I was sent one location and my friend was sent a different location. Pick up was at 9 am. Owner messaged pick up was 9:30 or 10 am.
The boat did not arrive until 10:15. So I guess be prepared to stand at the dock for over an hour. Leaving the beach club was pretty much the same experience. Departure time was 5:30, then told 5:45. We stood there waiting on the dock in the dark and did not end up leaving until 6:15 pm. Do not make dinner reservations on this day. Especially fine dining as many require a deposit, if you’re more than 15 minutes late you forfeit the reservation and deposit.
